Electrocuting a chicken, hanging it on a rack and having a machine slit it's throat is far less humane than a shotgun pellet.
All so that a moron can imagine it's purity.
By the way ed, there are people with dogs waiting in the back ground whose entire function is to collect every bird that is possibly hit.
Because the birds are revenue. Headed to tables.
Out there doing it best I can.

zapper... do ya really think english style captive bird shooting is about processin birds fur food? if so, then its a very inefficient and cruel method of processing fowl for meat... heres a video of a better way?... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnRYi2ukzOsan in this scenario, nuthin flys off in pain, beyond the reach of our dogs, an dies a slow agonizing death... cause, as those of us who still hunt or have hunted know, not all pellets are well placed...

Ed, did you fall asleep in one of those controlled atmosphere trailers? USDA allows 2sq ft/ bird. Driven birds are free range on the estates.
Every bird you shoot at has several sets of eyes watching it fly. Injured birds are immediately collected and dispatched. Often by Hallal method. The birds are crowned, and packaged for sale.
There are not dozens of carcasses littering the estates like there might be on an American game preserve. Primarily due to terrain and predator suppression.
Your imagination is way off base on this.
Out there doing it best I can.

Think of this as an opportunity to learn, and to leave behind misconceptions.

Not sure what you mean here. The high tower in the first picture is for clay pigeon shooting. Captive bird shooting in the U.K. was banned in 1922. If you are confusing Drive Bird shooting with captive birds they are not. Any reared birds have to be released wild some months before they can be shot. Not all shooting here is driven as there is a lot of what we call Rough Shooting which is the same thing as what you call Upland Shooting. Most of what is released on shooting estates finds its way all over the place and onto rough shooting land where it can be shot for free by anyone who owns the land or with permission to shoot on the land. Pheasants even come into my back garden. Lagopus..

[quote=ed good]this english style of captive bird shooting has always been repulsive...reminds one of the decadent romans and their "games", where helpless humans and other animals were butchered for "sport"... [/ Lions eating Libs. good sport, Old Boy!!

no doubt, soon, some one here will be telling us that pen raised, captive bird shooting, is sanctioned by the usda and has been personally endorsed by sonny perdue, as his preferred method of poultry processing...

Ed, did you hear a popping sound just before you posted again? Im trying to figure out where your head was.
The eggs are collected from hens, just like chickens. Brooded in incubators, or in some cases, under a wild, broody hen. The chicks are raised to fledging, just like a chicken.
Game Poults are released into outdoor pens, whereas chicken poults go into chicken barns. 25000 at a pop. 2 sqft allowed for each.
The game poult spends its life outdoors, is encouraged to fly, and is fed a nutritious ration, free from chemicals, hormones, and antibiotics.
A chicken? Not so much. They are lucky their cell mates only eat parts of them.
Ed, before your head goes back where it was, If you dont like hunting, I dont care. Thats your business. Was never a bird shot with a shotgun that didnt thrill the shooter.
But dont spin a negative, completely false depiction of game bird rearing and sportsmen.
Out there doing it best I can.
