I recently bought a Winchester Super X-1 trap gun at an auction. Got it home, took the forend off and was going to take the barrel off and clean everything up. But the barrel will not budge. A week of penetrating oil has not helped. I'd take it to Wright's, as Pinckneyville is not that far, but they are out of business. I'm open to suggestions.

SX-1's were a pain in the butt to get apart if they have not been taken apart fairly often. I used a nylon hammer to get them apart. No harm to the gun and they always came apart in the end. Oil you would think would be enough alone but it is not. Good luck.

if its just crud, clean it when you get it off.
but, if the chamber extension is bulged, it may need some filing to on the wear point.

You may want to call Steve Fischer in FL to see if he has a simple recommendation. He doesn't have a website. This is a link to his business information. Steve Fischer

Woo hoo! Success is mine. At least as far as getting the barrel off. Thanks to all who replied. KyJon's nylon hammer suggestion did the trick.
