The last three guns from Terry's collection are being sold 1 June at Amoskeag. There is a really good 12 ga box lock "Pigeon gun," 30" Damascus barrels SN 30342 (I'd date it 1888) with a low estimate; restocked in American walnut but a good job...It looks like a Bargain.

But this guy is old school and if anyone shoots muzzle loaders, should be interesting: No Serial number...so I would hazard that Reilly retailed it - he did not make it; with "EM Reilly & Co. on the lock plate, normally it would indicate it was post October 1859. However, there are non serial numbered Reilly long guns and pistols marked "E.M. Reilly" during the 1850's, before the company name changed officially.

About 8 ga., 37 1/2” round barrel with a lightly oxidized bore. The barrel is a soft plum brown patina showing only remnants of its damascus pattern, with light oxidation and some sparsely scattered pitting as well. There is a simple brass bead front sight and remnants of an interesting rear bead sight as well, with remnants of the makers name near breech of barrel. The breech plug shows some light engraving as does the long tang, both are a dull pewter gray patina. The lockplate and hammer show the same nice quality loose open flowing scroll, the lockplate maker marked “E M Reilly & Co”. There is an iron nosecap, simple ramrod thimbles and lightly oxidized tailpipe. The triggerguard has lightly chiseled front extension, the engraving on the bow now lost to the years. The English walnut stock rates about very good showing remnants of an old light cleaning, with the overall expected dings and handling marks that come from a hunted arm. The checkering at the wrist and forearm has now worn to flat-top, and left side of forearm shows a 9” crack that runs from the lock screw escutcheon to the front wedge, it seems tight and will not flex. The gun seems to function well mechanically and what is likely the original ramrod is included. Overall length is 55”. A handsome big bore percussion Reilly overall. 37147-66) {ANTIQUE} [Terry Buffum Collection]
