Roy,
If you want to buy cases rather than make them, 8x58.5R S&S cases will work for 9x58.5R S&S, 9.3x57R/360 Fl 2 1/4", 8x57R/360, as well as 8x58- 58.5R S&S (also 6.5x58R S&S if you get one).
Asfar as my thoughts on your loads: You seem to have more experience than I and you have the rifles "in hand", so you can trust yourself. Nevertheless, 45% of the BP load is the accepted conversion factor for Nitro for Black loads, if your 22 gr. 4198 load is a Nitro for black load for a heavier than 180 gr bullet, you might be able to increase the velocity some. A friend of mine has a Kettner marked, Sauer made double rifle chambered for 9x58.5R S&S and the load you cite above seems familiar as the load he successfully uses (the 200-gr bullet is the .358" 35 Remington bullet). For 8x58.5R, 200-gr Speer over 37-gr AA4350. I have no experience with this powder. If this load is a conversion of the old German R-5 powder, Axel considers AAVV 140 Burn rate is similar to R-5, I use Military pull down (IMR) 4895 as similar to R-5. For whatever it is worth, in my own 360 based 8mm cartridges I use 170-gr bullets (sized to match), so my powder charges would be different than if 196/200-gr bullets were used. IMR 4064 and RL 19 would be similar to AAVV 140/ IMR 4895/R-5, but not exactly the same so normal careful procedures would be called for. Your reason for the 8x58.5 S&S loads makes sense but, "if" or "how much less" can't be known without trying.

Mike,
I am somewhat cautious because my rifle was made before 1912. I think that the proof marks indicate that it was proofed as a black powder rifle. Therefore I am pursuing NfB loads.

Reading Graeme Wright's "Shooting the British Double Rifle", he lists a load for the 360 EX (BPE) of 25 gr R7 with a 190gr jacket bullet for 1700 fps. The 9x58.5r Sauer and the 360 EX are almost identical so I will try that load.

The only reason why I am looking for a little more velocity is that, with my initial load of 22 gr IMR 4198, the right barrel shot slightly right of the left barrel, indicating I needed a quicker bullet.
