The fitting of the barrels to the frame/face and underlever is so perfect that I don't think they are different makers. If anyone out there thinks an additional picture would help with identification, Please let me know and I can email them directly. Tony

Henry Jones devised his lockup mechanism in 1869 I believe & with those large strikers, it just may be some Belgian offering from the 1870s w/ tubes or a tubeset from Francotte. From what I can see, if it's a real Francotte it's a lowish quality one. It doesn't have the Maker & Patentee bit on the action side.....pretty low serial # eh?. I'm more used to looking at Francottes from 1900--1940, vl&d, or vl&a era, but I don't see the usual Francotte quality that often jumps out at me.. But I am no expert, hope fully Bob Beach, a Francotte historian can help you...I believe he is connected with Griffin & Howe Co in CT..cheers & good luck with it Tony... frank

The Crown over AF should have 4 curved (not pointed) lobes surmounted by a cross (the Belgian royal crown). If not, it may be a knockoff. Last edited by Drew Hause; 04/08/19 06:46 PM. OP albion Boxlock Joined: Jan 2016 Posts: 12 Maine	As far as I can determine the Banc D'epreuves de Liege was established in 1888 and I'm wondering if Belgian firearms in the 1850-1880 timeframe were not required to have more than the perron or maker's mark. Thanks for the clearer photo of the A. Francotte maker's mark. It does match what is on the subject double.
