Charlie at Hill Rod and Gun is fair and honest. He runs a good shop and has many fine shotguns. I doubt that you will be disappointed if you purchase a gun from him.

A buddy from Bozeman and I visited his neat little shop in the hotel a few years ago. Seemed like a great guy, very friendly and open.

I've dealt with Charlie for over 10 years - buying and selling. IMHO, he is one of the best dealers in guns of our interest to be found. He's honest, and cordial. And he also does some pretty good gunsmithing on the old doubles too.

There must be some unhappy customer but Ive never heard of any in years and years of being on the net. Always reported as being a bend over backwards type guy. Always. And truth is that half bad sales are the buyer fault. We miss things, we expect more than what we pay for or just buyers remorse.

You might be thinking of the sale by Duncan Hill, the original owner. Last I knew, he was doing work in Africa, Uganda I believe. Duncan was a regular on the 16ga forum for a long time but I haven't seen him there in quite a while.

I've bought one gun from them, with which I am very well pleased. I've looked at several others over the years and Charlie has always been candid about condition and willing to provide any measurement information which I've requested. I'd buy another from him without concern.

I'm sure I could have gotten in when I was there, but luckily the Bozeman Gun Show was also open and I went there. Bought a Fox pin-gun from a fellow said he was a former pro baseball player, George somebody. Nice guy...Geo
