Anyone have some insight into this gun? They are $5k on the Savage website. Looks like a Turkish sourced gun. Anyone know?

Sure there is a link around here if you search for it. They are made by CSMC, basically in many ways a different form of the RBL.

Hard to tell from the pics, but I would say it's the same product featured in Gun Library of local Cabela's for about $4500. It's US CT-made Sakaba with action shaped to be reminiscent of A.H. Fox shotguns.

Maybe its just the pictures, but from the few photos I've seen of these guns, the checkering looks quite cheesy for a $4500 gun. Not quite pressed checkering, but it surely isn't a finely checkered wrist. http://www.gunblast.com/images/SHOT2018/Day2/IMG_8694.jpg

Judging the engraving lack of color would you think the engraving was done post color case by lazer?

Yeah. I field tested one and liked it--enough that I tried to buy one. Twice. Shot the field test gun quite a bit with good results, no issues. But I didn't like the matte finish barrel. Word was those were early guns, later ones would be blued. So Savage sent me one with blued barrels . . . and seriously messed up checkering. It's laser cut, but they must've had a monkey on the machine at CSMC rather than a human. Two different types of checkering on the stock--one coarser, the other finer--in the same panels on the wrist. (The field test gun did not have that issue.) So I told them about it, figured it was a one off deal. Send me another one. They did. Same messed up checkering . . . this time with matte barrels. At which point I gave up. And since then, I've seen at least a couple guns Cabela's have for sale in their Gun Libraries with the same messed-up checkering.
Maybe I'm missing something. Could be two tone checkering is the latest thing.

They're not making them in .410, Chuck. Move along, now. SRH
