Im looking for information about a Samuel Marson & Co of Birmingham marked 12 bore. Specifically marked the Marson King. How do these rate? Was Marson a quality maker? Ive been able to find scant Little in the way of information at all other than the bare basics. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Dave,
I assume you are the new caretaker of that GB auction that just closed. I think you faired well. I know nothing of the maker/trader but the gun appeared to be of good quality. The stamps on the barrels and flats may give a better clue to its origins.
Congrats,
John

Can you post a photo? Difficult to SWAG value without a real good description or a photo.
Was Marson a quality maker?
All Brit gun makers could get out best work guns --- either via their in-workers or by contracting with out-workers known for the skills to produce best work. Note that value of an individual gun is dependent on maker's name Brand Value level, Original Quality grade and Current Condition level. Dave Myrick DDA

I will post some detailed photos once I have the shotgun in my possession. I was looking not for a valuation rather an overall impression, kind of like good better best perhaps?

I will give you a valuation once photos and a good description are available. Valuation will be based on Brand Value, Original Quality, and Current Condition. Marson will be Brand Value level three (BV3).

Dave, In the interim until you take some pictures, would the link to the Auction be appropriate?

DDA But the OP said he didn't want a "valuation"........ From the OP: I will post some detailed photos once I have the shotgun in my possession. I was looking not for a valuation rather an overall impression, kind of like good better best perhaps?

"Good" but verify inner beauty with a competent gunsmith.
