A friend called saying his brother wanted to sell me a Bernardelli Roma 6E 12 bore for $800 new in the box. It has a DG, SFE, SG fully engraved 27 tubes articulated trigger with traditional straight grain walnut. However it is not stocked to the fences.
What is the action... There is nothing via google (lame search engine at present)
At $800, is there be somethihng wrong with these Bernardelli. Seems like a nice weapon
Thanks

Your friend's brother is nuts. Take advantage of that offer before he regains his sanity. New in the box, that gun has to be worth over $2,000. Nothing at all wrong with it, and "stocked to the fences" would mean little with a Bernie anyhow. Although Bernardelli did a good job of copying the sidelock look in the Roma series guns, they're actually sideplated boxlocks.

Seems like a nice weapon Thanks Presuming there aren't any major parts missing from the gun, then the only thing that I'd want to check before coughing up the dinero is the serial number... for stolen. Other than that, I'd say larry's right... the seller is crazy.

Blue Book says $2400, as Larry said. Unless it's hot, jump on it.

This may be disinformation but it's early and I didn't crack any books. If I remember right, the Roma 6 is a boxlock with sideplates which will explain "not stocked to the fences". Really quite a nice gun. $800? People are paying that for Bernie Gamecocks. Don't think twice.

And given what's available today, people should be happy to get a nice Gamecock for $800.

I saw the Bernardelli Roma 6E last night and it was as described. I meant his offer but first told him the gun was worth more than he was asking. He said a deal is a deal. He was in the midst selling his possesions on ebay and guns were a no no. Also bought a nice pair of officer issued Colts he got after West Point.
Alway nice to find an opportunity during the age of "internet" exposure.
I am impressed with the wood to metal and balance. The Italian job may move an English gun or two in the vault and might even see a grouse/partridge this season.
thanks
