I recently looked at a Baker side by side 12 gauge shotgun at a local gunshop. The gun was stocked with a Monte Carlo style stock with a black plastic/hard rubber butt plate with the name BAKER in large letters in the butt plate, with a beavertail forend. My question is whether the stock/forend configuration would have been a factory option? Or am I looking at a re-stocked gun set up for trap? The stock and forend had a lacquer type finish, with decent checkering. The sideplates were marked "Baker Batavia" . I did some searches online and did not locate any images or descriptions that match the gun I saw. Any info is appreciated. Thanks, Tim.

Serial number and complete names on all parts, both receiver sides, rib, etc. would help, too.

The Baker Gun & Forging Co. high grade guns were made to order and a Monte Carlo stock is quite possible. Their entry level "Batavia" line -- Special, Brush, Leader and Damascus were made for stock guns with few options offered. In later catalogs in the teens, a cheek piece or Monte Carlo was two or three dollars extra. After they sold the gun business off to H & D Folsom Arms Co., they offered, in the early 1920s, a "Baker Paragon Double Barrel Trap Gun" with a beavertail forearm which they called the "Baker Perfect Grip" forearm.

The shop where this gun is located is a small garage sized shop , with guns on racks on all the walls and floor. I was on my lunch hour and it was busy so I couldn't really get photos. I hope to get back with my choke and chamber gauges to check it out more thoroughly. In addition to the above description , the gun had no engraving, no case colors and faded barrel blueing. The stock had a raised comb , that swooped down to the buttplate. The beavertail forend looked very similar to the one in the old advertisement and the forend and stock wood matched. It was reasonably priced and I hope to handle it in regular attire, as opposed to my work suit and overcoat, to see how it handles/feels. Thanks for all the replies and information, they're much appreciated.
