In case the bird fights back, Stan?
You can tell a lot about a man by the cutlery he chooses....
That is called a rifleman's knife, patterned after the knives carried by the longhunters of the early eastern American frontier,
If anything fights back around here and I'm forced to use a knife it'll be this one. Big ivory scaled damascus (640 layers) bowie that I designed, and a dear friend hand forged and made for me. Serious knife, with the top clip sharpened just like the bottom edge.

Funny tale about it. At the time it was delivered to me I had a dear old family friend, Eddie Lee Walker, a black employee who lived here on the place, with me. Knowing his penchant for using a knife in close quarters (read juke joints) I handed it to him to look at and asked him what he thought. He made a couple short horizontal sweeps with it about "belly level" and said "Boss man, I could take this here in a juke on Sattidy night and bring peace out of confusion". I always thought that was a great line.
Happy Thanksgiving all, SRH
