If I was hunting for farm chickens I would look Last Dollar up and borrow his Flash dog.
But since I will be hunting Canadian gamebirds I will be running my French Brittanys, all bird finding machines.

Thank you Bruce. Settles the dog GPS question for me.

Thanks James. Holiday Inn Express is nice but the Garden Hilton is better.

 Thanks Mr. Jones.

 Thanks Clapper.

 Best,

 Mike

You're welcome. Bummer about the Garmin. I love mine, and my dogs aren't run-offs but it is useful to know when (and where) they are on point in the tall stuff. I don't like bells, beepers or whistles in the field. Well, maybe in bear country bells are OK. When I want my dogs to check in I just use the page function.

 Got an offer for you.

That is an interesting note from the government. I don't think my sheep hunting friends, cougar hound guys or upland and migratory hunters with dogs have any idea of those regulations as we are all in NON- compliance having bought products supplied by the USA

Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

Bruce I run small tailless dogs. As you say they are hard to see when they are on point in heavy cover.
Ted I deleted some PMs. Gets hard and harder to pick the ones that have to go. Lots of memories.

Treb I will do that. Thanks.

Tamid,
I'm surprised they shipped them to Canada, but you guys need to do what is suggested in the Garmin note: lobby your government to open up those frequencies to these devices. Probably unless you are interfering with someone's use of those frequencies and they complain, there will be no consequences to contend with. In the U.S., truckers run their CB radios through linear amps to greatly exceed the power limits allowed and the FCC doesn't seem to care much.

Mike, good luck with your hunt. It's on my list of things to do since I am not that far from B.C. for sure, and a little bit farther from Alberta and Saskatchewan, where I assume most of the upland hunting happens.

 Bruce

Mike, a non resident season limit in Saskatchewan for Huns is 8 and 4 for Sharpies. Hardly a decent morning work for you and those wonderful dogs. Alberta may be different, but usually has had higher limits.

Saskatchewan Season limit for Sharptail is four for non-residents, same as possession limit. Two back-to-back brutal winters clobbered bird populations. Ruffed Grouse populations and limits are much better in the Parkland and forest fringe.
Fortunately Sharptail and Hun populations are recovering. We expect limits to return to historic levels next year, which is double this year's limit.
Waterfowl hunting should be our usual spectacular.
Hope you have a good visit to Canada.
