I called CSMC (again) on Wedesday trying to find out when my RBL will be completed. This time they actually did a search for it. The gun was PIF: 11-28-2005 and has been in the shop since the third week in Feb/first week in March, depending on which phone call is to be believed.

I know I'm beating the same drum, BUT, when do you pull the plug? Yes, I did have to call to get the results of the "search" and was told that my gun would be another three weeks.

Now, I have enough accounting to sit for the CPA exam and I'm baffled. Production time is supposed to be 4-6 weeks, sometimes taking as much as 8 weeks. Well, let's see. Then, under the worst case senario, I should have had my gun a month ago and, now, I'm told to wait another three weeks.

My patience ran out around mid-March and now, I'm breathing fire. It will be difficult to forget this experience and, if the gun isn't perfect(and how many are), it will gone much quicker than it arrived.

Tom, they will gladly give you a refund and you can take it easy for a few months and buy another RBL or what ever you want.I see a few for sale here and there. I had two but sold one of them. Bobby

Time for Gunmakers and Gunsmith, does not follow the normal laws of physics. I am currently 7 months into a 4 month Gunsmith quote.

Mine's a tale that can't be told, my freedom I hold dear.

Tom28ga:

Personally, I would cancel the order. As someone said you can always purchase one on the open market and see what you are getting.

I returned mine because of dreadful checkering and after they could not fix the checkering they gave me a refund. I saw one for sale yesterday at the Northbrook Double Classic and it had the same lousy checkering job. Chuck H saw the same issue with the RBL's he saw. bbman must have gotten a couple of the good ones.

For the money the checkering, engraving and wood finish I observed leave alot to be desired. As you know you can do a great project gun for the same money or a little more, and get a lot more gun.

I am still baffled why CSMC can not, or will not produce these RBL's to consistent standards.

I still think the Kimber may be the way to go for this money. RCC

Tom28ga-
Sounds like you and I were among the small group of early PIF folks that Carol 'finally' put out a real APB for 2 weeks ago......
Magically I got a call Friday saying mine was ready to be shipped...........
Now we'll see if their unsatisfactory quality has gone from sporadic to predictable.......

I canceled three orders last week. It was very liberating. I have not received the deposit yet but I am knot worried. These orders were deposit only on 10/28/05. I can't imagine how long they would take to finally arive. Room now for something I really want. Like a nice drilling.

I sent a gun in early Feb. 2006 for a new stock on one of my guns, and I am still waiting. While I was never given a time frame, that's alright. I know it will be a qualtiy job, and worth the wait.

I, too, would wait a bit longer. I'm a PIF 12/04/2005 order. I was told a good 6+ weeks ago that the early December orders had gone to the shop. Since I've waited this long, and since I can't chase grouse until the fall, I've decided to patiently wait. If I don't like it, I know I can return it for a refund and look for something else. Although the results have been mixed, I remain the eternal optimist and hope for a nice gun.
