Maker of gun, Belgian?, gauge, barrel length, stock length, chamber length, condition of bores, wall thickness, in proof or out are just a few of the things you need for a real valuation. It has a trivial chip on the stock which should not be that big of a deal. It is a nice looking gun but buying on looks is like marring on looks. Liable to get you a good looking, ex-wife.

OK, this is being advertised for a senior but will try and get those question answered. Current description is turn of century Belgian 12 gauge boxlock with 27 1/2" barrel. Bores are described as very bright. Thanks!

Externally it looks reasonable. Almost certainly Belgian based on the engraving. As pointed out mechanical conditions determine value. Along those lines the head of the stock appears to have a classic boxlock crack that has been screw pinned back together. Jeremy

The pins told me it was almost certainly Belgian or French. 27 1/2" is a common barrel length so not cut. The cross bolt through the stock makes me think it has suffered a split and this was done to repair it. I suspect it has no makers name on it but there might be one. Ejectors I suspect not extractors. Nice engraving which we tend to over value in the US. You could get a gun engraved as a British best gun for two pounds when this gun was made in England and for less in Belgium or France. Finish is gone on metal. Sounds like I don't like it but I think it is a nice gun for a shooter not as a collector.
Now the question I have based on the pictures is that a crack on the metal on the corner next to the chipped stock? I think it is and suspect when the stock split it caused it. The problem was long ago and seems to be stabilized. Point is that it is there and should be fixed if possible, the stock crack and split not the crack in the metal.
Unless there is more than I am seeing I would be interested in this gun for $500-600 max until I knew what was going on with the stock.
