Can't seem to pull the trigger on spending the money for a couple of new oak and leather cases. I don't store my guns in a case (they are put in the safe barrels down) and the majority of the time I break them down into soft cases for hunting trips. But those guns were an old superpose and a well used bss. The RBL has its own canvas case which I normally use for trips but I've acquired a couple of nice old English doubles that probably need a bit more TLC. I do have a couple of nice browning canvas and leather cases but they just don't look right lying under a browning label.
I guess the question is whether or not they need a custom case for protection? And, does the oak offer three times the protection as a canvas considering that's the price increase for oak?

If you are looking for protection, oak and leather has long been surpassed by the plastic cases as used by Beretta and others and by Americase. Americase is airline proof (if anything is) and tougher than nails. Hard to justify oak and leather prices compared to these others which do a better job.

On the other hand, nothing has the cachet of rich oak and leather for a fine English double gun. Americase is great for heavy travel duty, but it lacks 'soul'.

FEI will build you a great oak and leather case for way less than the retail of an Americase. Take your pick. I have both, but for different reasons. Americase would probably not build me a case for my Alexander McComas Baltimore eight bore Jones lever 36" gun. FEI built me one in oak and leather without a hitch.

I cant really say much about the case question( however, I vote for Oak and Leather) but I sure would like to see more of your gun!

Delta Boy http://www.feiguncases.com/Wallis, That's like asking a parent to show new baby pics! This is the Harkom 16ga Boxlock Here is the Harkom 16ga Sidelock I'm sure they'd look good in a two gun oak and leather case as well I just don't know how practical it would be.

I tried to get that one but it's been sold for a while now.
