Hello Forum members.
I am still trying to find 8x58R Sauer ammo for my combination gun with no luck.
I have purchased 9.3x72R cases and the die to try and resize them to 8x58R Sauer. I have never done this before and have never loaded metallic cartridges before. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to form those cases for me. Thank you in advance. BillK.
Below is the link to my combination gun I had posted about 7 months ago.

BillK,
I suggest you try someone within driving range, so you can verify that the brass fits. If you can't find someone close, I will help you out.

Hi Skeettx. I have tried all these 3 sources you listed and ammo has been unavailable since I started looking about 7 months ago. I want to stay away from Bertram primer cases.

I've resized 9.3x72R to 6.5x58R Sauer. Cut the brass to length first. Use a minimum amount of Imperial case sizing wax. Start the resize slowly and back the case out frequently and redistribute the wax removing it as you go to prevent denting. Once sized completely trim again to proper length.

Bertram is a brass manufacture, most of their cases are boxer primed, the odd Euro case with the anvil built into the brass and no center flash hole are Berdan primed.

I tried a box of Bertram brass for my 6.5x58R Sauer and the brass needs to be anealed (Brittle, split neck on first loading without annealing before using) and the necks were very thin I had to size in a 257 sizer die with a .258 diameter expander ball to load .260 bullets. Brass made from 9.3x72R works perfect in my 6.5x58R die, no neck reaming neaded.

8x58R should be easier to make than 6.5 as there is a lot more squeezing down to do with the 6.5

After the first shot the rest are just noise.

BillK,
Of course 9.3x72R works perfectly as Oskar said, but if it were my rifle, I would use original length 38-55 cases (2.125-2.130")from Starline. They are just a little bit short, but work fine, just seat the bullets "out" to the normal OAL. Bullets will likely be .318", but you might be able to use .320-.321" 32 Win. Spec. bullets. The new Flex Tips should be great. You may have to adjust rim diameter and/or thickness with 38-55 cases, but they are cheaper.

Thank you Mike. I have slugged the bore and it measures .318".
I have already purchased .318, 200 gr bullets, so I think I am good to go with regards to the bullets. BillK

Bill, may I ask where you obtained the 200 gr., .318 bullets? I am soon going to have a need for some.
