Beautiful. I wouldn't do a thing to it except use it.

It's a Lovena. Not too common although I have one. 12 bore sidelock. Now that you have pics figured out, care to post some additional photos, particularly of the proofs?

No indication on an engraver, but I've seen this pattern before searching the web for info on Lovena. Also, no idea who made it, Lovena was from Prague Czech, but the gun only has Belgian proof marks (I'll post pics of that tomorrow) - probably a guild gun they contracted to have manufactured.
It seems to be a high grade gun to my eye - bushed firing pins, articulated front trigger, and stocked to the fences. Unfortunately there's very little info available about Lovena.

RAS, you got this gun recently? I think I've seen pics of it before.

Recently bought it from Cabelas Scarborough ME, saw it on Guns International. It reminded me a lot of a H&H Royal which I envy but can't afford. Also one of the reasons I inquired about brightening the metal a little, the pictures I usually see of Hollands and other high end British doubles seem to have brighter finishes than this.

It looks French gray from here. I would leave it just as it is.

Very nicely engraved gun! I agree with the above...leave it as is. I am no "finish" expert but have studied/practiced engraving for some 50 years now and if I had engraved that piece I would certainly want it left as it is. Shining it up will not improve its looks and you would likely be disappointed...and unable to put it back as it was.
