I thought I would share my second refinishing project. It is a 1960 Beretta 409 with articulated front trigger, extractors and 30" barrels that I had opened up to IC & Mod. Thanks for having a look.

Patrick, what did you use as a finish?

Do you have any "before" pictures? I have a project I'm working on now that's nearing completion. I didn't think of taking any before pictures. I should have.

Did you refinish only the wood, or the entire gun? If you did the receiver also, what did you use for that frosted finish?

James, I used Birchwood Casey walnut stain & Tru-oil (20 coats). I then finished it off with Renaissance Wax.

I only did the wood and touched up some of the bluing. The receiver is a factory coin finish.

I forgot to take before pictures as well. I can tell you that it was a much lighter finish and the previous owner had sloppily varnished all the wood with over runs all over the receiver, trigger guard, etc. The upside is that the varnish had protected everything quite well.

Make sure to post some pictures of your project. Always enjoy seeing projects done by others,
