Well, I'd give give world's to know? What's the apparatus in the 2nd picture from the bottom. "Dr Mann Range Sept 1912". Is that some kind of chronograph?

That's a chronograph the disks turn on a shaft at a known RPM at a known distance apart. The bullet goes through both and you measure the difference in location which results in the time which is the speed.

I have never been on a forum before and was looking for info on a gun my father had. It is a BSA with Martini action. The barrel says A. O. Niedner Dowiagac Mi. It has an old Fecker scope and I took off the front stock and the #634 was stamped on the bottom of the barrel. The stock also had the name T. Shelhamer 26. Can anyone fill me in on this. The gun is in great shape and shoots even better. Thanks! Craig123

Craig, I can't help with information but a Niedner/Shellhammer requires that you post pictures - lots of them. What caliber?

It is a .22. I sent the scope to Parson's Scope Co. to have the cross hairs installed. They we missing and dad never had them replaced. I am not a computer person, so I am not sure how to post pics.

Craig. that is the earliest number Shelhamer I've ever heard of. I have seen several in the high hundreds and low one thousands (1197) and would also love to see pictures of yours. Will look forward to Brent's posting!
