The Spring Classic is right around the corner April 21, 22, 23 and 24, 2016, at Deep River Sporting Clays and Shooting School. Here are some special events not to be missed: A Slide Action event has been added for Thursday, April 21, from noon to 3 p.m. It will be 60 targets over 10 stations. The entry fee is $50. To register call 919-774-7080. Event registration will take place in the Clubhouse (rather than the Pro Shop) and will be done using computers (shudder). Seriously, we hope to streamline the registration and scoring process, but coul;d use your help by registering in advance. Even if you just sign up for one event, we can get your name and address into the database. Saturdays Pig Pickin will be catered by Allen & Son Barbeque. After a long absence, local restauranteur Jimmy Stubbs of Allen & Son will be catering our Pig Pickin promising to make it the best ever. Still only $20. Dinner tickets can be purchased on site any time up to the 5 p.m. serving time April 23. Blue Grass music will continue to be celebrated on Saturday, this year before dinner. Dont miss Alice Zincone and her band in the tents from 3 p.m. on.

I will be shooting my new Standard Manufacturing Company slide action shotgun in the "Slide Action" event. I am glad such an event has been sanctioned by Deep River.

Are there rooms blocked at the Hampton Inn in Sanford as were in years past?
Best Regards, George

George, I reserved a room for Judy and me @ $99/night. I asked about a SSxS special rate, and the lady at the desk could not find anything. JR

Totally off-topic. So you're an HD-28 picker? I've been playing a Martin D-35 since 1975. I had a friend now deceased who had a beautiful Martin HD-12 with the 12 fret neck and the slotted head. It was an awesome guitar. About a year ago I bought a Blue Ridge 12 fret slot head parlor guitar with D45 inlay on the top (not the sides and back.) The parlor guitar has a wider fingerboard than my D35 and I prefer it for finger picking. I'm pretty pleased with it. I've lusted after a D45 for 35 years.

I've never been to this shoot, nor anything bigger then a local sxs match really. Can anyone shoot in this or does one have to shoot a qualifier match? I also saw on the schedule a preliminary and the main event.. is the preliminary a qualifier?
And my favorite load is 7/8 ounce in a 12 gauge.... would I need a heavier load for that course?
Sorry for so many questions, I'm quite excited to go even though my shooting results in almost as many misses as hits lol.
