Back in the 60s, I had little money, but had lots of wishes. One was a bolt rifle in 6mm Remington. I scoured the magazines, trying to figure out what was good for that type of gun.
I eventually bought a short Mexican Mauser action, a stock blank from Vineland , NJ, for $9.00, a Canjar single set trigger, and a Shilen barrel. Pete Grisel , who was at Robbie's Gun Shop at the time in Rapid City, S.D., put the metal together. I took 15 years to do the stocking, as I moved to Alaska, and that caliber was not really useful there. but I remember thinking that my Shilen barrel was as good as I will ever be able to do.
