Here is another snippet for you. The Gunmakers Association (now The Gun Trade Association) held their AGM and dinner in 1898 and it was reported in the May edition of the 'Sporting Goods Review'.

I attach a photo of the dinner and a report of who attended. The shame is that we are unable to put names to faces.

These days, it would be a much smaller group. Back in 2001, we visited the UK and shot driven birds with Roger Mitchell, then managing director of H&H, and also president that year (not sure I have the title right) of the Worshipful Company of Gunmakers.
H&H made something like 125 guns that year, and they were #1 in terms of volume.

The GTA today has 700 members, see http://gtaltd.co.uk/

The Worshipful Company of Gunmakers probably has around 100 members, though I am now guessing; see http://www.gunmakers.net/

Then of course there is the Long Sufferers Association, to which only members of the gun trade with over 25 years experience are admitted; a rather select group of gents!
