Is it safe to fire bismuth shot in a twist barrel percussion gun?If so, should it be loaded the same as lead?

Yes sir, I've done it. No problems with standard black powder loads and wadding.

I've used Bismuth for ducks from a 20-bore c.1815 flintlock.

Bismuth is the only shot (other than lead) that can be shot naked, i.e. no protective shotcup, without fear of wear or damage to your barrel.
