I'm a good ol' Kiwi, living in NZ, but went to BC for 4 months to experience the BC hunting scene.

The Model 700 is one of the most reliable guns to ever come out of Birmingham. I own several and have found them to be almost bulletproof. You might be interested to know that several studies have shown shooting 2 3/4" ammunition in short chambered guns has not significantly raised pressures. I always shoot the longer ammunition in my short chambered guns (thousands of rounds) without any problems or signs of problems. Obviously, avoid shooting heavy loads in that lightweight gun.

I subscribe to Trademe a Kiwi version of eBay and the market down there for SXS's isn't nearly as good as here. The good news is you Kiwi's don't get in a snit like they did on eBay over selling guns.
BTW I'd like nothing better than to spend a few weeks or months exploring your beautiful country.

I was all booked for BC, airline ticket paid, bills all paid, money in my pocket and my work permit didnt come thru, so I went anyway. Was in a hunting camp for over 100 days, but was shooting with a camera rather than a rifle. Long story short, I came home to 2 rather large unexpected bills, and it'll be a month or so until I get paid for work now that I'm back home. I dont work on CR and I dont expect any one else to have to carry me so am just looking at my options to ensure I meet my obligations on time.
Anybody interested in a hunting or fishing trip to NZ and needs a guide? Be in quick and I might get to keep my W&S

If you have other, easily replaceable guns, I'd sell them first to raise money to pay the bills

About 30 years ago, I sold a 16 gauge Scott, 5 pounds 13 ounces, 26" full choke fluid steel barrels. On the side of the stock was a presentation plate recognizing the recipient of the gun as the winner of a yacht race in Philadelphia. I've been looking for this gun ever since.

If it's "refurbished", how can it be "absolutely mint" or "all original"?
And if it is "refurbished", I think you'll have a tough time getting $2500US for it.
Half that, maybe -- if it was not messed up too much.

Do take a moment out of your busy schedule, and point us to the 700s that are not "messed up too much" that have prices of $1250 on them, here in the states. I'd like to purchase a few, and put 'em back out there at $1995. I'm going to venture you are a bit low with that guess. Best, Ted

Post up some pics so we can get a better idea of what we're all talking about. It may be a stunning drooler with wood to kill for.....or it could look like a new Beretta SP1 with plywood for a stock. That makes a bit of a difference too in the 'curb presentation'
