I bought a G33-40 Action from a friend to build a nice 7x57. I don't know what the deference is between the G33-40 & the standard Model 98 is other than the milled slots along the side & it being a small ring. Any information would be most help full. Thanks very much for any info.

Buck Hunter,
The side walls are thinner, the receiver bridge is thinner, and the bolt handle is hollow. The receiver ring is often smaller than the 1.300", considered normal for a "small ring". BTY, I have a couple and like them very much. You will have a nice rifle in the end.
Mike

I have a 7X57 built on a G33/40 action which went with me to Africa and accounted for a whole variety of plains game, up to and including wildebeest. I think you'll love it.

I had a nice 7x57 built on a Mexican Mauser action. One of the most accurate light weight rifles I've owned. Still in the family but my brother won't give it back. smile
