I would like to hear people's recommendation for a gunsmith to perform a relining job on a single shot Holland and Holland express rifle. I am having a correct liner made to restore the rifle to original caliber, but need a gunsmith to install it.

This is my first relining project and would like to know what I should look for in a gunsmith. For example, is it preferable to find a gunsmith who will tig weld the liner at the muzzle and breech? I am more interested in quality than a quick turnaround.

Try John Taylor, he lines quite a few rifles and has a special set up with flood coolant. Typically welding is something to avoid in a line job. The joint can be made invisible or nearly so without welding. I really do not enjoy the job and try to avoid it. Best of luck on your project.

John Taylor is an excellent gunsmith and a friendly guy to work with. I have used him in the past with complete satisfaction and would not hesitate to go to him again.
