Just got my "restored" LC Smith back from the Smith. I'm very pleased with the end result. Since the gun had been restocked before I had bought it, there was not much collector value anymore. With that said, the gun is a very rare Trap Grade 20 GA (only 348 20 GA trap grades ever made, and only about 120 in the configuration of my gun). The Smith said the barrels were some of the best he's seen on an old gun. We did our best to bring the gun back to factory condition, and I think we succeeded. Can't wait to whack some late season SD roosters with it this December. While I love double guns, I don't have the money to own all the guns and like. However, I'm pretty proud of this old LC Smith. Im even proud of the chicken scratch engraved convicts on the side.

On Trap grades, the left lock shows 5 men standing in line at the trap, the right lock shows a hunter with a quail flushing.
The wood on a Trap grade was decent and like you said yours is a re-stock from Fajen and they put on what the customer paid for.

I'll have to wait for your pictures, as the ones on the L.C. Smith site were small and I don't know what happened on the picture showing the left lock plate.

Would you care to tell us the name of the gunsmith that performed this lovely restoration?

Looks like possibly Buck Hamlin to my eyes. Sweet 20 Trap grade, with HOT and ejectors- How long are the barrels and how are they choked- Does this Elsie have 2.5" chambers? If so, what safe loads for SD pheasant can you use in it?? I admire the smaller gauges (except the crippling .410 bore) but to me, pheasants are a 12 gauge game bird-RWTF
