Anybody have a source for pinfire ammo or hulls? Google search only reveled Brass hulls at $75 a box. I was hoping for something a little more affordable as I don’t know if this is something I want to do long term.

I do not think that there is any other USA source for pinfire hulls.

It takes commitment and/or a very crafty approach to the old obsolete cartridge guns if you want to run them in the field or at the range.

I make my own pinfire hulls, I have heard of others doing so as well.

Do you have a rifle, shotgun, or pistol?
If you have a shotgun, the 75 bucks might be worth it, if you have a bore rifle rhey might not work for you at all.

Thanks, Pete and Tinker. I may go for the $75 brass shells. I have a group of antique guns on the way several of which are pinfires. I have never played with pinfire guns but I would like to give it a try.

Mark-

Please keep me posted on your progress with the pinfire guns.
I'm very enthuiastic about the pinfire system.
If you'll be offering any of them for sale let me know.

Mark,

Now you got me looking at pinfires..... I found this site. While not what you are looking for, it is interesting. Somehow, I can't imagine walking around with a loaded pinfire handgun in my pocket.

I'm curious to know why someone would be very enthusiastic about the pinfire system. I've never used one, but always thought they would be awkward to use and a hassle to reload.

Why?? would anyone be interested in muzzle loaders, SxS doubles or anything else other than the "Most Modern" tin can, rattle trap autoloader with choke tubes, etc. Good question!! but count me in. Incidently I don't even own an autoloader, or pump for that matter, but do have a pinfire, a W & C Scott ca 1863/65.

Why mess around with semi-modern stuff, Pipes... let's go right for the arquebus...
