That was my next course of action. I have a lot of different 16 gauge ammo that I was going to run through to see if I could get the same result. Interesting about the gun club ammo though

I had the same problem with an Italian hammer gun. According to what I researched on the net the firing pins should protrude from the breech face .05" to .06". I used a feeler gauge to measure mine. The pins on my gun were to long and seemed to be to pointed. I stoned them down to .055" and rounded them off. This solved the problem.

Yeah im definitely going to measure how far the pins protrude tonight. Im thinking either I have a problem with the ammo im shooting or the pins are justtttt long enough that they burst a primer every now and again

Hello:
My experience, if it is usefull, is that the shape of the firing pin is the cause of the problem.
Check if the firnig pins are too acute. To correct you just need to round them a little.

When you check the protrusion,be sure to push the hammers forward, they likely rebound and you might not get a true reading otherwise.

Soo I measured the pins yesterday. They came in aroun.650 - .660 which doesn't seem too far out of line but maybe just enough to split a primer every now and again? they do also look to be a little sharp. I think ill hone them just a touch to shorten and round them off. I did shoot 25 rounds of Fiocchi last night and didn't run into any more split primers.

That is on the high end of the specifications but my guess is rounding them a bit and no more remington ammo and you will be good to go.

Yes I think that should solve my issues. Ill probably do that tonight, maybe shoot again tomorrow and I will post an update as soon as I have some results.

Might also check behind the ejector/extractor kickers/pushers for crud that might have been stopping full insertion into the chambers... you never know...
