Okay, I have a real quandry. Just picked up a 1910, gr.3 Flues 12 bore. Straight factory stock, with Super Heavy Krupp Essen fluid 30" bbls.nice bores, and 3 1/2" chambers. You read that right 3 1/2". Quintuple checked. The gun weighs almost 9 lbs. if you didnt know better, you would say it was a 10 gauge by looking at the profile. The gun is all numbers matching and appears completely unmolested. Thoughts?

Sounds like a nice gun huntermn. I doubt that a circa 1910 Flues 12ga would have the long chambers, as built though. Welcome on your 1st post. My only thought is I wouldn't shoot a modern 3 1/2" load through it...Geo

My suggestion would be to check the wall thickness on this gun and pay extra attention to the area around the chambers and for the first few inches in front of them. Chamber specifications were much more loose at that point in time and if it was a competition gun it may have been ordered for a special load/case. Steve

Hello huntermn Welcome on your first posting
Nice gun, would pictures be possible?
A serial number might bring out some interesting facts from those on this site who have access to the data book.

Okay...when i said heavy,! 1 " ahead of the forcing cone is .328, 1" from muzzle is .051. I was wrong on chamber, it is 3"' (didnt have the feeler locked). Next thing is that although definitely a Grade 3 ( and so marked), the fine engraving of the setter and pointer on the sides, and the duck on the bottom are extremely fine with a LOT of fine detail surrounding them. All of the screws, including the buttplate are very nicely engraved. With the exception that the gun came with a broken hammer, i am excited about this one. There is surface rust on barrels, and oil soaking and flattened super fine checkering, so going the restoration route. There is a safety, but really thinking Pigeon gun now.

The engraving on those old, higher grade Ithacas was pretty nice.
