Which part? Him being originating from Lyon (which seems to be the consensus before he relocated) or that 5 of the arms were in this duke's gun room?

or that the mixup between vienne france was with vienna austria in french?

Vienne vs Vienna. I'm curious if any of this other wares had a Vienna or Praze address. He may have advertised as Vienne from the get-go and didn't change?

good question. I would trust our european cousins on this question, as it does puzzle myself as an american. To us it could go both ways right?

did gunsmiths go by where they were a master?

"He is recorded master in Vienna in 1821..."

or origin?

Journeymen went on their walkabout to gain experience from several gunmaking centres. Typically they wrapped this up by age 24 and made some component of a sporting weapon and with the other sourced components submitted it to the local guild to gain their master's sheepskin. Missillieur must have flounder for a time or really extended his walkabout as being born in 1781, he should have been a master but the early 1800s. Sometimes they were apprentices in other crafts and switched horses or he could have gained experience in a couple of associated sporting weapon crafts.

In those days, they had to be qualified (tested)in at least two skills (i.e. stockmaker, action filer, etc)before they could get a master certificate.None of this was automatic.
