A year and a half ago I bought my high school Daughter a used trap gun from a Gander Mountain in Kansas. Little did I realize at the time what I got. A Ithaca 4E, ser #404747. While I knew it was a solid gun, top lever being to right slightly, and being worn but clean overall. Anyway, my young Daughter loves trap shooting, and as cool as that is, She loves her Ithaca more. She takes it from the safe and just stares at it in her room. It's like she got a new puppy. So, this year I sent it out to give it a check-up, reblued, and case colored. Now it's really sexy!
We both know this is a unique gun. We would love to hear the old girl talk. Can anybody give us some background on this particular gun.
Matt (& Emily).
BTW - I know this gun has 1, not 2 barrels, sorry in advance.

I only have personal pictures. As I understand, it they must have a URL.
If someone knows how to work around this I have some really good pics.

Nicest upgrade to a 4E that I have ever seen. Sure makes Joe Heistead look better, that's for sure!

Thank you Drew. We call her a "4 1/2 E"
Joe Heistead? Is he somebody I should know, or is that a inside joke?
Yes, it is sweet. That's why we'd love to know more about it.
I was told that Walt Snyder frequents this site. Anybody, know?

Matt, Nice 4E, and Yes, Walt will be able to give you the most info. What I have is serial #404747, is a Knick model SBT and was mfg. mid-year 1960.

It was finished 7/16/1960 as a gun for stock. A 4E with a 32-inch barrel. That is all the record I have. It is post market up-grade as factory 4Es had no gold. Joe Heistead ran 1404 straight targets in the late 50s/early 60s and his image was used on the 4E. He was also well advertised in the Ithaca literature. You need to research Ithaca SBTs , Grand American champions and Joe. Joe was from Hillsboro, Ohio.

That is good stuff. On old tractors sometimes it can be learned where it was sent from the factory. Is that info available at all?
Thanks all for the info.
