I have been in the trench for the last month but even before that there doesn't seem to be much for sale. What everyone thought was a wall hanger "pitted bore,ect... is now worth $2000. to $3000. Now I haven't seen where one might have been sold because they are still listed.I noticed Cabell's has no problem asking a big price but will give a discount a week or two later which will work on 90% of the public but I would say not the first one on Double gun. Only other thing I can figure is Joe Wood's has gotten a jump on me buying up every hammer gun and is causing the market to run up only to sell to me when I hit the lottery......and...and I'm going to hit....at least that's what my wife thinks.

Hammer guns are cool again so prices for good guns are way up. Ten years ago they were dogs. Just like 16 ga. Sterlingworths were everywher for 500 bucks now parts guns bring more than that. As to Cabellas gun room prices, asking is not selling price unless you are desperate. I looked at a Remington 1894 that was priced about twice the max price it was worth. It still remains for sale almost three years later. No reason to expect it to sell at that price for many more years. My God, it has those Damascus barrels which everyone know ar dangerous.
If you really want to look for a long time, find a good 20 ga. hammer gun with Damascus barrels, in something other than a child's stock, for anything like a reasonable in price.

I prefer wood to plastic, leather to nylon, waxed cotton to Gore-Tex, and split bamboo to graphite.

It's okay for the price it is now but I wouldn't be going much above that. At least not in my neck of the woods.

No doubt a cheaply made restocked Belgium knock off....not even fit for the local Cracker Barrel wall.
I wouldn't take it for free.

Here is one that I love and hate at the same time. It is a real Westley Richards that started out as a pin fire and has been converted with mixed results. Maybe it is just the coin finish and 26" barrels that leave me cold. Maybe it just shines too much for a gun of that age. Lot like doing a full face lift on a 140 year old lady. Yea we can do it but should we? Wish someone would bid it up so I could forget about it. Perhaps with a few hundred more dollars to cut the gloss and shine it would make a nice gun.

That gun is a Belgium knock off...if you can't see the low quality then you might need to get your eyes checked.
