I was at a gun show today and saw a 12 gauge Ithaca Lefever Nitro Special with a monte carlo stock, a raised ventilated rib, and the most gawd-awful ugly beavertail forend Ive ever seen. Naturally it caught my attention; further inspection revealed twin full chokes. Did Ithaca ever market such a beast as a specialty clays gun? Sorry, I didnt take any pictures.

Likely an Ithaca Model 4 Lefever double trap. A scarce one.

Walt, thanks for identifying the shotgun for me. Funny I didnt notice if it was single or double trigger, about all I could see was that ugly log of a forend hanging off the bottom of the barrels.

Stan, Im still traveling/living in my RV. Last year I went from San Marcos TX up though California, Oregon and Washington visiting national parks along the way. I ended by spending about two months in Port Angeles WA. Im now back in Houston, having been seduced by the hope of selling an oil prospect of mine (then the bottom dropped out of the oil market). I plan to spend the coming summer and early fall fishing and grouse hunting in northern Wisconsin. Id originally planned to go to Maine but I lost a bunch of my geological consulting business with the oil downturn, making Wisconsin a far more affordable choice.

Plus when I go to Wisconsin I can attend the Great Northern SXS Classic! WOOHOO!!!

Steve

I've never heard of one of these entry-level trap guns coming from the factory with a monte carlo stock, but they did have a rather less then graceful beavertail --

On the other hand, in their higher graded Ithaca doubles they made some unusual stocks for picky trap shooters like these made for Lon B. Smith --
