By the mid-1920s, Ithaca had beefed up their Flues doubles quite a bit. In the 1912 through at least 1915 Ithaca catalogues they give their small-bore weights as --

16-ga 5 3/4 to 6 1/4
20-ga 5 1/4 to 5 3/4
28-ga 4 3/4 to 5 1/4

In the July 1919, Ithaca catalogue --

16-ga 5 lbs. 14 ozs. to 6 1/2
20-ga 5 1/2 to 6
28-ga 5 to 5 1/2

In the December 1, 1919, Ithaca catalogue --

16-ga 6 to 6 3/4
20-ga 5 3/4 to 6
28-ga 5 1/4 to 5 3/4

In the 1925 Ithaca catalogue --

16-ga 6 1/4 to 6 3/4
20-ga 6 to 6 1/2
28-ga 5 3/4 to 6 1/4

Just for Ithaca No. 1 lovers, here is one of the last No. 1 NIDs in 28-gauge along with a box of 2 7/8 inch Western Super-X 28-gauge shells --

Here is my 1915-vintage No. 1 Special 28-gauge, before --

Personally I would shoot RST 2 & 3/4 inch 3/4 oz shot shells @ 1100 fps in that gun, as a trial/test. If you don't notice any issues, and I bet you don't, then I would go for those shells.

That is a mild load and you have a late model Flues. Others' MMV.
I would have a good 'smith check the gun out first.

Lovely gun, good shooting!

Did this gun come from the factory with 2 3/4" chambers, or were they lengthened at some point. Since this is one of the later flues, would it be alright to shoot Winchester AA 2 3/4" 1200fps ammo out of it or should I shoot low pressure ammo. Larry Brown said I should post these questions on this board and I would get the answer needed. Thanks in advance for the help.

Thanks to all for the reply's. I am still up in the air about shooting Winchester AA's. Does anybody know what the pressure is on AA's at 1200fps? I also need to get a pistol grip cap for the little gun, where is the best place to get a replacement cap?

Try Dutchman Woodworks for the grip cap --

http://dutchmanwoodworks.com/buttplat.htm

I doubt Olin Corp. would say anything more than that their 28-gauge AA is within SAAMI Specs and that is 12500 PSI for 28-gauge.
