I have read posts describing touch up type refinishing for doubles done with rust blue techniques; only worn areas are redone.Has anyone done this;how even is the finish?

I do it from time to time. How well the patch matches directly relates to how well you rust blue. The same tricks apply, just don't polish. Its very hard to tell when done properly.

This was mentioned a few days ago on the PGCA site, i.e., rust bluing over existing blue that is in relatively good shape, but with some thin areas. I think the poster was Tom Flannigan.
