question is there any way to tell if my stock is original on my field grade

Very seldom will a stock replacement have the serial numbers on it. This was done by the factory because all parts were sent throughout the company for fitting and to make sure they came back to the same gun, they were serial numbered. This is for most fitted parts.

The checkering from what I can see looks finer than most Ideal Grades, but hard to see at that angle. Nice feature with the HOT trigger. Also the capped pistol grip looks different.

It is the original stock and for-end.

Yes, the serial numbers should be stamped in there.

Sorry, I thought Brother Drew posted pictures of yours. That would explain the finer checkering and pistol grip cap.

I have plenty of sets of number and letter stamps in different fonts and different sizes. The fact that the numbers are there under the trigger guard tang doesn't mean too much in my opinion. If they aren't there speaks volumes!!
