I have a early 50's Gr III Browning Superposed with what appears to be a Silvers pad on it. The PO gave me a leather facing that he said was on the pad at one time. I've seen leather covered pads on guns but this is only a leather facing. Is that something that may have been correct for the period?

Leather faced silvers type pads were used on a lot of different american guns. But the '50s strike me as being a bit late for that kind of pad to be commonplace. But I suppose that it could be special ordered with it.

On prewar Browning Superposed, page 69, Schwing: 'Any standard type of recoil pad could be supplied by the company and fitted to the gun prior to delivery'.

Socialism is almost the worst.
