I have been looking for a while to find an AyA 4/53 that suited me. I don't remember ever seeing one for sale that didn't have "upgraded wood" but this one seems nice to me. After always having vintage guns it is nice to have a "late model." 20 gauge, 15" LOP, 28" barrel. right at 6 pounds loaded.

Congrats. What are you going to shoot with it?

Best,

Poorly!

Sporting clays at side by side events, preserve birds over a pointer, and I will carry it along while hunting grouse. I can't say I will use it to shoot grouse, that implies success.

Great choice. I think you'll enjoy it.

I bought a 28 gauge 4/53 at the Cabela's in Hamburg, PA about 6 weeks ago. 29" barrels and the full coverage banner and scroll engraving with a coin finish on the receiver. Went in to buy a pair of boots and found it new in box but marked down in the Gun Library. Fit me very well, so it came home with me. It's already become one of my favorites, but that was one darned expensive pair of boots.

I was all set, check in hand, to buy one of the NECG special 4/53's like that, but I couldn't bring myself to buy a new one. My favorite shotgun is always the next one, and I couldn't believe the depreciation.

It's a nice looking gun. I'm sure you'll be happy carrying it in hand.

I'd like to have one like that too but I have a policy that whatever gun I buy has to be older than me.......and that's becoming increasingly difficult! Heck of a note: my favorite hammer gun was made in 1870 and my birth date is closer to it than to the present day!

Shot a round of skeet yesterday and I did OK, nothing to write home about, but it was one of the first times I have shot the gun. I think a little more trigger time and I may have finally found a gun that I like the looks of that I can actually shoot decent.

One "gold star" for me was breaking a low house standing almost half way between number 8 and the traphouse, shooting low gun. A couple of the other guys tried it, and a few broke it, but they shoot gun up.
