I have a beautiful Ithaca side by side with 2 sets of barrels numbered to the frame, cocking indicators and single selective trigger and ejectors. The gun us in the 4xx,xxx range with light engraving. The gun is in beautiful condition. Wood is fine and beaver tail fore end as well. Can anyone give me an aprox of the value of such a gun. Im a trap shooter and this gun came into my posession by accident. I will probably never shoot it.

Obviously a special order NID and a great gun as described. But you need more details to really pin down a value, especially a picture or detailed description of the engraving (would tell us what grade it is), and dimensions of the stock and barrels (would help tell if it is a custom job and possibly if it is factory original or aftermarket custom work).
And what GUAGE is it? Smaller is generally more valuable.....

The grade should be marked on the water table (in front of the breech face). There will be a single digit number. Light engraving sounds like a 1 grade, or maybe even a field grade with ejectors.

Very common practice amongst American makers. If a customer wanted an extra forend with his extra set of barrels, he had to so specify and make sure he paid the additional dollars for that forend; as doublegun makers priced extra barrels with and without an extra forend.

With cocking indicators, sometimes referred to as snail ears, the gun is from the first series of NIDs that Ithaca made.

There were several minor changes made to the NID during its 20+ years of production. One example would be the stars you see on a lot of NID's. Some people refer to them as "star grade" guns, but that was just one version. The snail's ears lasted, I believe, right up until the final version--on which the Field Grade engraving was a simple line around the border, the cocking indicators went away, and the top of the receiver was stippled. It was probably the simplest design, but it's the one I've always preferred. Cleaner-looking, to me, than earlier versions.
