I also had problems with open sights and got around it with a P/H peep sight.
18" barrel which came off a 9mm Manlicher and slugs out at exactly .357 and breech block bushed. Was originally a 22 R/F.
No more trying to align front and rear sights and so light to carry.
Real pussy cat to shoot and so accurate.
These little Martini actions must rate up there with the best or even better.
What other easily available rifle action can you take out the working parts by taking out one little screw.
OK so you are limited to calibre, no big booming Magnums but I have found my Martini 7mm Waters ok.
Looking forward to getting my hands on my next Martini in 5.6 x 50R
I used to be able to post a photo here from Photobucket but all I can come up with now is this.

I like it. Is your 7 walters on a cadet frame? Or a model 12?
I wanted to go with a waters but was worried it might be to long or to hot for the small action martini

Really a great gun. Good trigger right out of the box. I have a 22 lr model 12 (I thnk) I bought for skb. Target gun. With parker hale sights. Can't decide what to do with that one

Does the model 12 use the same diameter barrel?

No not a Cadet, another 22R/F not sure of the model but of the type that has the thicker side walls to the frame to give a bit more meat there.
Topped with a two and a half power 7/8" German scope for ease of loading.
Still can't get a photo here.

It would be far better to get lever actioned gun chambered for handgun cartridge. These are available in cal: .22, .357, .44, .44-40, .45/.454. Single shot just does not make sense.
I have been looking for .307 or .356 Winchester lever rifles but for some reason I can never find one locally. cry Rimmed .308 would sure be nice to have. smirk

Hi James, thanks. How did you manage that ?
I tried more than several ways trying to get it to show up from Photobucket.
Never used to look at or have any interest in single shot rifles once upon a time but once I owned one I was hooked.
Regards.

Jagermeister,
The 307Win is a rimmed 308(at least simi-rimmed). If you are having something built, it is easy enough to have it chambered with a 308 reamer snd single point the rim recess for 7x57R(8x57R,7x65R)rim dia.Make cases with a 308 file/trim die and load with standard 308 dies and shell holder to fit the case. This cartridge would be great, but too much for a small martini.

hunting with a single shot is a state of mind. Similar to hunting with a muzzleloader your hunt revolves around getting close to the animal and making the first shot count. It is my favorite way to hunt. The 7-30 waters is quite capable on thin skinned game and make a dandy rifle to carry in a small martini. Bob Snapp was the master in this realm.

Nero, for some reason when you right click the IMG box it copies an extra string. just use the string with the [IMG] brackets. It does not do this with my photobucket images, just the img string copies.
