Hello Folks
I have recently weakened and taken a Sako 222 into my closet.
However alongside the Obendorf sporters even the petite Sako factory stock looks and feels like a club. And it has a Monte Carlo cheekpiece, which are sort of banned in our house !!!
So I would like to have a more classically styled stock made - does anyone know of a stock maker/duplicator who had a nice pattern for a Sako L461/A1.
Thanks Foster

Tentman, Since you think the Sako stock looks like a club, it would seem that there should be enough material to reshape it to a form that satisfies you. I suggest you consider having someone do this, instead of making a new one. Mike

Tentman, If you haven't already convinced yourself you want a custom stock, Mike has a point. Maybe you can post a picture or detail model and year made, then some here might be able to offer suggestions

George Hoenig had a great, slim pattern for the Sako but I am not sure he is doing stock work anymore. He made 2 for me about the time he first introduced his pantograph.

Mike isnt wrong, I did say that the factory stock is petite, it just that relatively it not slim by any measure. I'll post some photos when I get home. Rereading my original post I see I might have upset some folks feelings about their Sakos, sorry about that!
I don't really want to alter the factory stock, and mine is very plain walnut anyway, so as nice custom would really "make" the rifle for me.
I haven't heard of any Hoenig stocks being made recently either but that's a good lead thanks.

Al Lind lists on his website as having some Sako patterns.
