It seems to be getting more lopsided! There are always 40 to 60 people on line at all hours, the membership is up to over 12,000, but less than 150 people donate to help keep this forum funded.
We should be able to do much better than that. I know times are tough, but this is a great forum!

Best,
Craig

This is just a thought. Perhaps the listing of donations might be more effective in encouraging people to donate if our screen names were used.

Good point James.

I'd also like to point out the following:
Access to and performance with this forum has been problematic for months. There are times when I can't even get connected so I try later. Perhaps this has been a disuader for other members here?

Interesting points! I would think that you can donate under your screen name or your real name, but Dave will have to comment?
I am sure that the volume on line has a great deal to do with slowness problems, and maybe more donations by USERS could help this problem also.

Craig

Just a thought, but I'd think Dave would list or not list donations based on preference. He seems to balance needs and wants to keep things humming along here.

Sorry, I did not answer the initial question. When I get donations I am happy to list what ever the donor wishes....screen names are rarely requested....

Over the last couple of days a Microsoft Bot...specifically a Bing Bot is stuck or has been sicked on the site.

I have been emailing Microsoft for days and I will continue to do so.

I have actually received sporadic human response and they may even actually look into the issue.

I see today it's much better with only 57k of SQL errors.

(FYI 57k EQUALS .057mb so it's really a big deal.)

The last couple of days have been the worst with literally 3 to 5 megabytes of SQL errors caused directly by the Bing bot....

Just curious - have you asked your ISP provider to screen out the Bing bot for your account? It can be done, but they probably will not want to do it. They may charge you, but a reasonable charge would be worth it if the stupid bot is causing so much trouble.
Best of luck!

To date I have not inquired with my host about blocking the bots. I have made recommended changes to my robots.txt fie (several times). It doesn't look like the spiders are paying much attention to that....

The weekend so far has been pretty calm with much better SQL error numbers:
Friday at 55kb
Saturday at 111kb
and 42kb so far today.

We shall see what the new week brings.
Thank you all for both your patience and participation.
