I am just wondering what the cost of restocking a Parker might be? Just a general idea.. I shoot some odd dimensions which is why I am wondering.

If I was being fitted or having a stock made to my dimensions by someone else I would expect the job be in the 2-3k range. I know others will always seem to have someone who can do it for much less but my luck is never that good. That's why I learned to do as much myself as I can.

The custom measurements do not increase cost as much as you think. It is the total number of hours involved in making, checkering and finishing a stock. The cost of the blank often becomes a minor part of the fee. The cost of making a pattern stock and getting it duplicated has to be added in. After that hours of fitting. It all adds up and good stockers tend to be in demand so you may have a backlog if work to wait behind.

Cost more than it's worth to re-stock better to alter the one it has or buy a new gun that fits. I have 4 Parkers with pads that give longer pull and combs just a bit higher. Bending gave me about another half inch height. I understand you can get a fair amount of cast off bending too.

To have it done right by a "master" will be closer to four grand.

Altering really isnt much of an option for me, my LOP is 16 1/8" I dont wanna have a 2" recoil pad on the thing, that would be heinous.

Most guys apparently hate wooden extensions, but they don't bother me so much. Gives me a gun that I can shoot and hunt with, and still enjoy looking at. And I can take close-up photos of the gun with a bird or two, and crop the out the extension.

Much better than a 2" pad IMO.

Sure, I would rather have full length original wood. But for 2-4K, I can live with the splice, and instead buy another gun.
