I will be installing a recoil pad on my new 16 gauge O/U; mostly for the added length of pull. Do you folks favor one brand over another? Thanks...

Even though this is not a vintage gun that would require vintage pad such as a Jostam or Ithaca Sunburst I would recommend a Silvers or Galazans Period Correct Silver clone, however you might find a Pachmair Old English attractive.

Thanks, TB. Its always great to get a thoughtful AND useful reply. I should have mentioned that this shotgun is a Browning Citori Feather Lightning made in 2010. It is a wand...

Pachmayr English in brown, red or black or one of the decelerator solid pads. Vented pads look good on a classic double but not so nice to me on a o/u. It is your gun so do what looks good to you. Easy to go look a a variety of pads and buy what looks good to you.

Favorite, none. The only time one would be considered is if the stock was cut and then I would just as soon add a piece of wood. Both look ugly, but I would settle for the wood. Shoot the right load and you won't need one.

If this is mainly for recoil reduction, KickEez.
If it is for lengthening LOP, and looks are more important, Pachmayr Old English.
I favor Jostams, Sunbursts and Hawkins for old classic guns.

Ummmmm......'shoot the right load and you won't need one'. What does that mean? What does the right load have to do with LOP? I'm confused, but I think a proper and ideal length of pull is fairly important. I think shooters can adjust some to an ill-fitting gun, but most, clearly shoot better with one that fits, and LOP is a factor to consider, no matter the load being shot, IMHO.
Socialism is almost the worst.
