All questions and comments deserve answers. It doesn't look like wood that came inside a target stock. What a nice gun.
Sorry, went to a smallbore match today, just got home a little while ago.
The rifle is a pre-A target rifle that has had the barrel cut down and a new stock made. This one is not a restyled factory stock. The front sight looks like G&H to me. Cheek piece does as well, but the monte carlo does not really look like something they would do. Although it could be something the customer requested. Pulled it apart and can find no identification anywhere inside the rifle. The ebony forend tip looks like it has been added recently. I have a theory that the original was horn and was deteriorated and someone replaced it with ebony. When they did they made it to long. There is some evidence at the glue line that it has been tampered with which is what leads me to believe it has been added more recently. The cheek piece is very full and thick and the stock has very little drop at the comb. I really have to get down hard on the stock to see through the sights. Almost like it was stocked for a scope, but the rifle has no provisions for mounting a scope. The tang has been lightly reshaped which you just about have to do to make the grip on a 52 look attractive.
That is about all I know right now. As soon as I get some time I'll get some pictures taken and posted.
Thank you for all the comments.
