Pilgrim.

I am not using black powder or substitutes but I am using Trail Boss which is very unique and, as I understand it, developed to use in BP cartridges and it keeps the pressures low.

If you want to chat about loads and particulars drop me a note... I am using this in my Gust Meffert Hammer Drilling.

Article here, page 21

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Handloader-Magaz...#ht_2119wt_1211

Shows 50.2 grains BP and 211 grain cast bullet

also shows much cleaner loadings for smokeless

[pilgrim,
I never use blackpowder in my 9.3s, but the 9.3x72R(and similar cartridges)was originally a BP cartridge. If you will put up with the mess, BP may work better than "white powder". I am informed that the proper BP load is as much powder as the case will hold, with settling. They all caution against using petroleum based bullet lube with BP.Some use a wad.Member Sharps4590 has considerable experience with BP, maybe he will join in.
