Now there is a screw that fits into the other thread about cleaning guns.
Question: We engraved grip caps available for purchase just like any other unengraved grip cap? I mean were they commodity items back in the day.

Hi Ric, how you holding up in the cold? What they saying for you Sunday night? I would think probably -30 straight temp...add in the wind and you'll probably have a wind chill of close to -45

"Hoffman"

Just for future reference I don't like to publicly answer questions about rifles that are at auction or for sale on the net.

Now having said that I'll say that this rifle has been for sale for about a year. The price started out at around 20K and every so often the owner lowers the price. Once it fell below 6K I have had about a half-dozen inquires on it. The price is getting near where I would have made a run at it myself but it has a lot of problems. If you will look at the buttplate and notice the rust and the rust on other parts like the Lyman 48. I guess my bigger fear is the the bore is pitted. If anyone lives nearby have a look and please report back.

That's the bad part, the good part is that it's not a Hoffman rifle. The rifle was made by Fred Adolph for a man who one day would be part owner of the Hoffman Arms Company and he had the rifle re-barreled.

Keeping an extra log on the fire is hard on my wood pile!On the plus side, predators seem to let their guard down and come in to a call more quickly,if your man enough.I'm staying near the fireplace, must be old age setting in.
