I took some pics of my work recently,a simple job. It is the first completed panel with my new Lindsay palm control. The Lindsay is a patented handpiece that is the latest thing available in hand engraving technology
First we saw the sheep from .010" 24 k.
Then we cut a shallow line around the area to be Damascened, and make sure the sheep fits.
The the edge is under punched with a flat, just like an old school inlay.
Next the background is scored with sachet'd flatback.
In two or more directions.
The gold is installed, and punched down at the extremities first.
Then it is peened.
And burnished till flat, and blended with steel wool.
The borders are cut.
Then the scroll.
And then carved, punched and bulino'd the details.

All the best,

Very nice work-thank you very much for sharing. In addition to the gold work, I really like the way we can see the scrolls progress from blank steel to finished product.

Did you do this under magnification as you have shown in other pictures?

not to pick nits, but an ibex is part of the Capri (goat) family. But i will let it slide this time!

Yes Marc, I believe you are correct, Thank you for the Capri comment. I have done several Ibex, I should have my goats and sheep straight, hehe, espescially since I am from Montana.
I use a Meiji EMZ 8TR stereo zoom trinocular microscope.

I can't tell you how much I enjoy the step by step sequences. Thanks so much for posting them. How long did this take you from start to finish? What will the gun be? Fantastic job once again.

I was really saying it to just give you a hard time. But if you really do feel bad about it, then you could make up for it by posting different pics of your work every week-even old works are fine. I know you were swamped with people and would never remeber me, but I told you in Reno how much I really enjoy seeing what your are producing!

Barry,

Being a real engraving nut I always enjoy your posts and can't wait for the next one. Could you tell us more about the Lindsay Palm Control. What does it do? How does it work?
