Anyone familiar with an Orvis Uplander SXS ? I am seeing one in 28 ga w English stock, nice wood and appears to be a sidelock or so it appears. If you have knowledge of this gun as to maker, value, dependability etc. any and all info would be appreciated.

I owned a 20 gauge Orvis Uplander made by Arrieta. Was a lovely, well made Holland style sidelock. Should've never sold it.

Likely an Arrieta or Grulla - the proofmarks and serial numbers may answer the question. If so, when sold used, they are often good deals.
I had an Orvis Arrieta 16 ga round body (not the Uplander). Bought it used - very nice gun for the money. I sold it only because it did not fit well. I think Orvis has pretty good quality control over their guns - they are overpriced new but often better deals used.

Such a long, long time to be gone, and a short time to be there.

If it looks like a sidelock, it is. I don't believe Orvis has marketed any sideplated boxlocks.
I had a "funeral model" Arrieta that was an Orvis gun. Basically unadorned, blued locks, but a nice gun. They've had several different models over the years.
